It's time for a Dr.: Chest pain, with jaw pain or with shortness of breath, can be due to minor problems or to very serious ones. An ER doctor can check to see what might be going on. Possible causes include angina or heart attack, partial pneumothorax (collapsed lung), asthma, reflux, heart arrhythmias, etc... Of course, if a patient has known panic attacks that cause such symptoms, she needs to let each doctor know.

Examination: Cause of chest pain must be determined. Start with your General Practitioner. Referral to a cardiologist may be in order. Expect a battery of examinations, lab tests, and possibly imaging. Please call for appointment now.
