Determine cause: How long has the "bump" been there? Hard or soft? Painful? Are the teeth mobile? Hard to diagnose your issue without an exam with radiographs. Best bet is to see a local dentist for further guidance.

Bump: Any bleeding, or as in your case pain and swelling mandates examination, differential diagnosis, and appropriate treatment plan. Most common cause is infection, but there are many types of infections and many other possible causes. Please see your Dentist.

Bump: See a dentist who can personally examine you and take an x-ray of the area of concern. He/she can then determine what is the problem(s) and how best to treat. That question is like asking a doctor over the phone: "Why don't I feel good and how can I feel better?" It requires an in-office evaluation.
