Pre Lupus: How are they qualifying "pre lupus"? There are many patients that have blood markers that can be found with lupus, but the patient does not have lupus due to lack of symptoms and clinical findings.

Nobody knows: There are no criteria for "pre-lupus" that are generally accepted. If everybody who feels unwell / has joint pain and has a positive anti-nuclear antibody test, the answer is probably "not likely". Among older folks, this can describe 10% or more of otherwise-healthy folks. If you have anti-dsDNA or anti-Sm(ith) from a reliable lab (and the tests are tricky), the risk is higher but there's no %'s
