See below: Yes you can. Lupus can wax and wane in activity and not everyone has all the horror stories that you see on the internet. It is ultimately up to you how you will live your life and whether you let lupus dominate your life. Best of luck to you.

Yes: Lupus is often mild and controlled with fairly non-toxic meds. In the absence of severe kidney, neurologic or other internal organ involvement, lupus patients can have a normal life expectancy.

Often good prognosis: In the 1950s, 60% of lupus patients died within five years. Now, more than 90% survive beyond five years. Many lupus patients have non-life threatening disease. Kidney or brain involvement portends a worse prognosis. Ask your doctor about what you can do to keep yourself healthy.
