A member asked:

With pcos, how do you know if you have insulin resistance? recently started having high blood sugar, and cholesterol.now i'm on metformin.also, is taking aleve or ibuprofen okay on met?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Insulin resistance: If you have PCOS, you have insulin resistance by definition. It is part of PCOS. That does not mean that you have diabetes, but that you will be much more likely to get it. Metformin is a good drug for PCOS and should help with the high blood sugars. Your elevated cholesterol can be handled in different ways, if necessary. Aleve and Ibuprofen should not be a problem with Metformin.
