Go for periodic exam: Hi, a filling close to nerve is ok. It would start hurting right after the filling was done ,if RCT was needed. Periodic exam is recommended every 6 months to monitor the tooth.

Your tooth: probably has an irritated nerve. Try to avoid hard chewing and extremes of hot and cold on that side. Perhaps it will settle down. If the tooth feels like it's sticking out too far or if it starts to hurt when you drink something hot and the pain is relieved by cold air or water - it's time to see an Endodontist.
