A member asked:

Saw new gyn. dx of pcos since 12. dr said i don't have it since i still get period every month 25-40 day cycles even though i have most clinical sympt?

Hard to answer: 12 is usually too early to diagnose PCOS as most 12 year olds do not ovulate every month yet. PCOS is also something that people can grow out of on occasion. In order to diagnose PCOS a patient must have 2 out of the 3 following symptoms: irregular periods, signs of elevated testosterone (acne or hair growth) and polycystic ovaries on ultrasound.
