This falls under: "Change in bowel habits." Often, this type of change is normal and can be explained by change in diet or eating specific foods. Gurgling can often be related to normal peristaltic motions of the stomach and intestines. The stomach, portion of small intestine and section of colon are located in left upper abdomen. Experiment with diet (briefly) but MD evaluation can exclude something more worrisome
