Is wound packing visible? i am not sure if the packing came out. the abscess was drained and packed but i cannot see any packing.

Yes, packing: material is visible. It is possible that the intended "tail" of the packing has moved into the wound; the wound will have to be explored to find the "tail." I seriously doubt that the packing could have come out without your knowing about it. Perhaps you were instructed in changing your dressing and repacking your wound. See if you can find the tail using your instructions. If not, go in to Doc.
