Estrogen levels: Estrogen levels vary throughout the menstrual cycle making the result difficult to interpret. For this reason Obgyns typically do not test Estradiol in young women except in highly specific circumstances. If a doctor is worried about hormone production in premenopausal women FSH and LH are more commonly tested. If periods are regular and cyclic then this implies normal hormone production
