Yes: It is highly unlikely that you had a case of shingles at 11yrs old. It is more likely that you developed chicken pox at that age. Shingles is a reactivation of the virus that causes chicken pox - varicella zoster. If you are 50yrs or older you are a candidate for the Shingles vaccine - Zostavax. If you think you have shingles, see a cliniican asap, as treatment needs to be started w/i 3 days
