Hearing loss: Acute sensory hearing loss could be due to a viral inflammation of the cochlear nerve. However, many conditions can lead to this problem-vascular , neoplastic, infectious. He should see a physician as soon as possible. If no contraindications, and to reduce risk of permanent hearing loss, some advocate for immediate 1-2 weeks of oral steroids for management of this symptoms. Hope he feel well soon.
