Is that Dx?: Clindanycin is safe for breastfeeding. It may be absorbed in your infant and may cause diarrhea. The diagnosis that you have stated does not suggest an infection. Is your doctor treating an infection ?mastitis? Because if there is not certainty, one option would be monitor. It is not unusual that the areola/nipple can get irritated with starting breastfeeding. Clindamycin: According to Lactmed/Toxnet, clindamycin can have a negative effect on the breastfed baby's gastrointestinal flora. Bloody stools can occur. Also antibiotics are not the usual treatment for contact dermatitis. Contact your doctor for alternatives to clindamycin.
