Go to your Doctor: Based on your comment above, it definitely sounds like you have shingles (herpes zoster). Treatments for shingles work best if started within 72 hrs of the start of the rash. There are some antiviral medications that can help the blisters dry up faster and corticosteroids may help reduce the inflammation and pain.. Unfortunately, the longer you wait, the virus will cause more nerve damage.
