A1c 5.3 non diabetic.why does my fasting number go up if i fast more than 8 hours? fasting range 90-104. 109(rare). is this a normal response in some people? should i eat a snack at bedtime to make fasting shorter? seems to rise at 12 hour. worried!!

No worry: The information you provided about your A1c and fasting glucose are not a reason to worry about. Do not eat more than you need to maintain a healthy weight. Metabolism slows with aging and it will not take much extra food for you to gain weight. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.
