I have gastritis/duodenitis with erosions. Taking Protonix and Sucralfate. Only water and eating oatmeal,, etc. I still get an acid taste in mouth after eating and usually have gurgling at tip of sternum after swallowing. Too much acid? LES issue?

I have been taking 40 mg of protonix for acid reflux. I have trouble swallowing pills. My pharmacist said it was ok to cut the pill in half even though I read you shouldn't cut or crush pills. It has been helping me with my acid reflux. Is it ok?
