See MD: Sounds like you may have gerd (gastroesophageal reflux disease). This is when gastric contents goes up into your esophagus causing burning. If not treated right it can cause inflammation in your esophagus, ulcers, and worse cancer. Your md may want to do an endoscopy (a camera placed down your throat) to see any damage. Elevating the head of your bed, no coffee, alcohol, fats, & smoking will help.
