Possible sprain: Given the short duration of you calf pain, it may well be a calf sprain. This is a strain of the gastrocnemus or soleus muscles, the main muscles in the calf. These muscles are frequently injured with sprains and cause significant pain. Stretching may help, as may heat application. If your pain persists for more than a week or become unbearable, see your PCP and consider ortho referral.
