A 1x4 inch red spot appeared on my knee overnight; the next day same color appeared on 2/3 of the back of my right hand. they quickly turned dark brown and have stayed that way for a week. i have appt with derm in 2 wks. no other symptoms. any ideas?

Dermatologist: It's a good idea to consult a dermatologist in case more lesions appear in the future, but I wonder if these spots could have been caused by a bite from some sort of insect even though there was no itching.If no other skin spots appear a systemic cause is unlikely.
