Herpes Exposure: If you don't know if you have herpes then you can have a blood test for the antibodies to both hsv 1 & 2. If you have no antibodies you have not been exposed and thus cannot pass it along. If you are pregnant I am sure you obstetrician can help you with this. They may already have tested you.

Yes: If you have genital herpes you must tell your OB doctor. Your doctor knows just what to do - he/she will follow you closely, check for an outbreak and give you all your options - passing hsv to an infant can be very dangerous, so talk to your OB doctor at your next visit.
