I had surgery on my back in jan of this year. since then i have had worsening pain/cold sensation in left ear with no signs of tmj or infection..

Ear symptoms: If there are no other signs or symptoms to suggest ear pathology, I suspect some irritability of superficial nerves in that region. The cause would be obscure but at this time I recommend simple observation as long as an otolaryngologist has evaluated you and sees no other problem. Most of these types of problems will resolve.
