Maybe: If the surgeon only took out a bone or finding, and did not put any metal or such hardware then it may be possible to have an mri.

Maybe: All patients with a metallic stapes prosthesis may be sent to the MRI scanner, with the exception of 1 specific defective prosthesis type. The exception is a 1987 accidental mismanufacture of several lots of mcgee pistons with a magnetic alloy. Patients with these specifically identified lots of mcgee pistons should go to a computed tomographic scanner instead of mri.

Yes, you can: If your surgeon told you that a titanium implant was used, it is safe to have an MRI or CT scan for TMJ. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your surgeon for clarification. Good luck!
