Great start but...: If you have crohn's, you need a good gastroenterologist to reduce flares, avoid systemic consequences, survey for dysplasia, & maintain remission. In choosing a GI specialist, find one with whom you feel comfortable fielding any questions. Discuss frankly options (step-up versus top-down therapy). Avoid precipitants of flares (medical noncompliance, tobacco, nsaid's. Be proactive & self-advocate.

Crohn's disease: Crohn's disease is a type of inflammatory bowel disease. It can affect anywhere in the digestive tract, but is usually in the small intestine or colon. Sometimes it can be a mild inflammation, but at times it can be severe and even require surgery. It cannot be cured, but it can be controlled well with medications most of the time. You need a good gastroenterologist to work with you. Good luck.
