Edema: Crohn' s disease affects the intestines and doesn't usually cause edema of the legs. However if enough malabsorption or malnutrition causes very low serum albumen, that is one way edema can develop.

Few ways.: Crohn's is an inflammatory disease that releases inflammtory mediators into the blood stream. There may be some small component of edema from that. Secondly it is also associated with an arthritis that can cause local joint edema and an increase in distal lymphatic pressure. Thirdly there may be protein / malabsorption losses which can increase edema.
