A member asked:

What could cause a person to die from crohn's disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Several things: Crohn's disease is an autoimmune-type disease with no cure. Management uses immune suppression, which places people at risk for infectious complications. There are also complications of the disease process that require surgery: perforation, obstruction, unresponsive to meds. Other complications include malnutrition and a higher risk of certain cancers.
