Post-op pain: Going thru the post-surgical period can be different for every pt. Depending on what type of surgery you had (most likely a non-fusion type.) you're most likely returning to normal shoegear. Due to not using your foot as you would have normally & swelling the foot may feel weird now that you are beginning to put weight on it. Try 1st mtpj rom, and nsaids if you can tolerate. F/u with surgeon!

Ball of foot: This can also be caused by the normal reaction to splint off the surgical joint causing pain elsewhere. This usually resolves spontaneously , but , as always, discuss your concerns with your surgeon.
