Sleep is necessary for the human body and mind. Studies have shown that after just 24 hours of not sleeping, higher order functions like planning and short term memory are affected. Emotional regulation is disrupted and can lead to schizophrenia like behavior. Immunity is decreased and metabolism dysfunction leads to buildup of toxins. Hormone regulation is also affected.
