Tylenol, (acetaminophen) topical rub: Many OTC meds are safe in pregnancy, including Acetaminophen (tylenol) for muscle aches and pains. Topical rubs and patches (ben-gay, icy-hot) are also safe, which is considered very good news in the third trimester, when back and shoulder pain can really hurt! massage and, yes, heating pads are safe in pregnancy -- even a jacuzzi, as long as the temperature does not exceed that of a warm bath.

Tylenol, (acetaminophen) massage : During most pregnancies, tylenol (acetaminophen) is considered safe, but always confirm this with your ob. A pregnancy-safe massage can be a useful way to reduce muscle aches and pain. Short term use of an ice pack or heating pad for about 20 minutes at a time can reduce muscle pain as well. At times, physical therapy with a focus on stretching and strengthening can be a benefit.
