Why am i frequently getting bacterial vaginosis? it comes right back, or never goes away after taking antibiotics. could there be an underlying issue?

Recurrent BV...: ...is common, difficult, often very frustrating for both patient & doc. BV is not necessarily an STD, but sex often triggers it and consistent condoms sometimes help. Treating male partners doesn't help, but female partners for sure need Rx. Vaginal metronidazole (MetroGel®) or boric acid vaginal capsules may help. If your doc is unfamiliar with these, find a gyn with interest in infections.
