"personal lubricant": A personal lubricant did not cause bacterial vaginosis, as it is made sterile by the manufacturer. Metrogel is not the same consistency as most "personal lubricants", but likewise, will not cause bacterial vaginosis. Infections requiring antibiotics for treatment are usually transmitted by sexual contact.
