Effacement: means thinning. Ventral means the front of the spinal cord. The thecal sac is the encasement of the spinal cord. Ventral thecal sac effacement is thinning of the covering of the anterior spinal cord at L3-L4. By itself, this finding is usually of little concern and requires no specific treatment This can be due to a protrusion of the intervertebral disc or arthritic change. Your Doctor can advise.
