No: You don't mention what caused the infection and what bacteria were found on culture. but should be safe to try another shunt a few weeks after the original shunt was removed. There is always a low risk of an infection after a surgical procedure is perfomed, but should be less than 5% in this case. Is the subdural hematoma also infected? That would change everything.
