Subdural hematoma: This means that hematoma is causing pressure in the surrounding areas of the brain. The air packets may mean that there was a skull fracture and air leak into the area. I would ask more explanations from the neurosurgeon involved in the case.

Radiographic finding: Subdural hematoma (sdh) can lead to irritation of the adjacent brain. This is seen as perilesional edema on ct scans. At the time of surgery, the brain appears swollen and red and edematous. Air pockets in the head suggest that there may be an associated skull or skull base fracture through which air may have entered. Blood may layer along the tentorial leaves (usually an extension of the sdd).
