No not normal: It is certainly possible to have a large bruise at the needle puncture site used to gather the blood. It's a large needle, and can cause some bleeding. But only at that location. Muscle pain is not from donating blood. If your bruises are located more locations than your puncture site, you need to see a doctor right away. If you muscle soreness does not resolve, you need to be seen.
