A member asked:

Why remove fallopian tubes with laparoscopic hysterectomy that's leaving my cervic ovaries from fibroids i have no other illness and no family history?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tubal retention: The blood supply to the ovaries and the Fallopian tubes are closely linked but one organ can be surgically removed without the other being impacted. Leaving a cervix in place will still put you at risk for cervical cancer and pap smears will still be needed. Talk to your GYN surgeon and ask why the Fallopian tubes are being considered by him/her for removal at all if the ovaries will be left.
