A cisternogram: is a radionuclide test done in Nuclear Medicine Dept. It begins with a lumbar puncture when, while you lie on your side, a doctor inserts a needle between your vertebrae into the subarachnoid space where CSF is. Little pain. A tracer is injected. You stay lying down for at least an hour. Then, taken to imaging for up to an hour. Return 2-6, maybe 24, 48, even 72 hrs later for 1 hr. scan. Accurate
