A member asked:

What causes an intermittent csf leak to stop and start?cause -spontaneous and area-right anterior cribriform plate

Explanation : You must a thumbed/eroded cribiform plate from some sort of prior insult... e.g.: infection, trauma etc. if it has healed and does not recur, then it may have healed completely with scar tissue. That doesn't completely eradicate your chances of a leak in the future and subsequently possibility for meningitis. So always remain vigilant with the signs and symptoms of leak and meningitis.

High pressures: When spontaneous, CSF leak is usually due to benign intracranial hypertension. Drainage may be sporadic and depend on position, pressures, location, etc.
