I've been coughing for the last 2 weeks and experiencing a constant sharp pain in my right side (ribs) getting worse when i cough. what is the likely cause?

It could be a: fractured (broken) rib...this can occur with forceful coughing! Speak with your PCP who may want a chest/rib xray. Hope this is helpful Dr Z

INFECTION?: The most likely cause would be an infection with a cough but if it is really bothering you would be worth getting a doctor to check you out? There are other causes but depend on other symptoms.

Cough : Cough can be caused by viral infection, bacterial infection, allergy , asthma or medications . Coughing violently can cause rib sprain . Can try analgesics and if not better see your doctor.
