Back on meds GI eval: Hi. By using the medication a proton pump inhibitor you decrease the aciditiy in your stomach. This type of medication takes a week to do this. A quick acting product such as OTC liquid antacids decrease acid immediately. Go back on the meds and see a GI doctor to get a scope.There are other meds for long term use. Thanks for query Dr Lange
