Bilaterality: The fallopian tubes, indicated by the term salpingectomy, are bilateral structures and the other side is still hooked up to an ovary, which sent an egg down to the uterus, then it was conceived. If there ovary were removed it would be called a salpingooophorectomy. Congratulations. I suggest you discuss other methods with your OB/GYN.
