Tinnitus: This ringing is caused tinnitus and may be transient or permanent. At this time I would wait, observe and only seek more prompt evaluation if there is associated hearing loss or vertigo. An otolaryngologist is best qualified to evaluate, advise and treat you, but tinnitus,when permanent, rarely responds to any treatment, but positional vertigo often is treatable by certain head maneuvers.
