Tinnitus: Tinnitus is the perception of hearing a sound that isn't actually there. This can be caused by problems in the ear (outer, middle and inner) or the nerves and brain that translate pressure waves in the air into sound that we hear. Problems in these areas trick the brain into thinking that there is noise when there is not. See your doctor for further evaluation.
