Food in airpipe?: When you swallow normally, your epiglottis protects your trachea (airpipe) so that food goes correctly down your esophagus. If food has been going down your windpipe instead, you need to see your doctor & have a swallowing study. Simple fear that this will happen often occurs in people with high health anxiety, which can be helped by working with a talk therapist in cbt specifically for this.
