You : You are going to need to stop running on it until it is not painful. It may resolve with rest, but if it continues hurting you will need an x-ray, and possibly even a bone scan to rule out stress fracture. Rest and anti-inflammatory medications (if you have no reason you can't take those) will most likely resolve your symptoms, but if not in several days please seek medical evaluation.

Yes, tendonitis: The peroneus brevis inserts into the base of the 5th metatarsal. It can become inflamed(tendonitis) with exercise. The job of the tendon is to help left the foot off the ground.

Injured Foot Running: You probably aggravated the joints in that area or the peroneal tendons. Try price. Protect(wrap, good shoe). Rest. Ice-for up to a few days as much as possible if it is hurting. Compress(ace wrap or sleeve to prevent swelling), elevate-if it throbs. See your board certified podiatrist if it still hurts a lot after a few days. Good luck! dr george tsatsos anklenfootcenters.Com.

Have it evaluated.: Your pain could be as a result of many different things. A thorough history and physical exam and possibly some laboratory and radiology exams are needed to determine the exact cause. Causes of pain may include: trauma (fracture, sprain, arthritis), or due to a musculoskeletal or a biomechanical abnormality.
