Gout: The pain can be helped by taking Indomethecin which is OTC. However you need to have your uric acid treated and reduced to prevent you having attacks of acute gout

Ouch, the Gouch.: Once it has been established that the pain is due to gout, you will need a physician to guide you through the treatment regimen. Anti-inflammatory as well as gout treating medications can be prescribed to help with the pain and inflammation. A low purine diet may also be necessary to further control the flare ups. Just simply taking medication may not be sufficient to keep gout under control.
