Green tea: speeds up the metabolism a little and helps burn fat. The effect is very small and w/out proper diet and exercise it won't do much. Please see your doctor for a good diet and to make sure you are healthy enough from some exercise, even simple brisk walking. Ask the doc about a low carb and higher protein food plan. Peace and good health.

Doesn't matter: Fat is fuel. It only burns if one's body uses the fuel. That means if a person drinks green tea and does not eat enough calories, his body will burn fat after using glycogen, for energy to survive and move about. Lime or lemon adds only a small number of calories. Otherwise, the only way tea will burn calories is if he uses it for weight-lifting (1 gallon of tea weighs 8 pounds, a decent barbell).
