It happens: The presence of metabolite in urine is considered more reliable than methadone itself especially at lower doses. While the vast majority of patients will still have methadone detectable in urine after 24HRS, the situation you describe can happen. You can help improve reliability of urine results by avoiding coffee or excess water consumption before testing so that the sample is not dilute.
