Need more info: What was the drug screen positive for? Did you take any pain pills in addition to the shot that may have had an opioid in it? It would be useful to get a document from your dentist to show your employer that the substance was a prescribed medication.

Drug test: What was in the shot? If it was an antibiotic it would not produce a positive drug test. Did you take pain killers after the surgery? Have you used cough syrup in the past month? How about OTCs or dietary supplements?Did you take opioids recreationally? Talk to your Physician and your Dentist to review your medical and dental histories.

Anesthetic Injection: The anesthetic injection should not result in a positive result on a drug test. It must be from other medications you have recently taken.
