REST that: knee ..STOP running! LIMIT stair climbing and apply heat where it hurts...pain in the back of the knee (POLITEAL area) is sometimes from a POPLITEAL CYST which inn-turn may be associated with mensceal (Internal cartilage) pathology. Consult with your PCP (Primary Care Provider) an MRI may be indicated, Hope this is helpful Dr Z
