A member asked:

Baseline & fasting blood sugar is always normal. blood sugar drops to 45/55 about an hour after eating a sugary meal. is this dangerous?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Reactive hypoglycemi: This sounds like reactive hypoglycemia, essentially an overreaction of the pancreas to a large load of ingested sugar. This can usually be controlled by eating smaller meals more frequently and by limiting simple sugars, replacing them with complex carbohydrates and fiber. If symptoms persist despite this management, see doctor for blood testing for insulin levels and such.
